We’re holding our Open Day in a couple of weeks, an opportunity to invite neighbours, friends and family to visit the allotments and see what we do.  It’s also our chance to raise some allotment funds.

As in previous years, we’ll have:

  • A produce stall to sell fresh fruit, veg, flowers and herbs. Please consider donating some of your produce or making some jam or chutney.  Bring your contributions along on the morning of Saturday 13th or leave it in the portacabin on Friday 12th;
  • A stall selling teas, coffees, cakes and other treats. Please put your apron on and bake some cakes, buns or breads.  Please label your baking and put it in the portacabin on Friday or bring it along on Saturday morning.

Can you greet visitors, show people around the allotments, or show off your plot?  Can you make yours the “best dressed plot” with a scarecrow or other decorations?  Can you help on one of the stalls?  If you haven’t already done so, please contact or speak to a committee member.

As this is our centenary year, we’d like to take an aerial photo of plotholders on the Open Day afternoon, if you’d like to join in at 4pm, gather outside the portacabin at the end of the Open Day.

We’re looking for people to help out with popping leaflets through neighbours’ doors: the leaflets will be in the portacabin on Friday 5th August along with a list of streets to leaflet: pick one and tick it off the list.  If you have a local Facebook or WhatsApp group, please let people know about our Open Day that way.

We need people to help set up the stalls and put up direction signs on Saturday morning, 13th August. If you have half an hour to spare, please come along at 10:30am.

Whatever you can do, please make this a day to remember!
